Some words about Vedas

Veda refers to knowledge. The Veda is ‘Apourusheya’ – not of human creation. The Veda is classified into four parts – Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharva.

These are further divided into Samhitas, Aranyakas, Brahmanas and Upanishads. Every grain of sand in the ocean bed of the ‘Anantha Veda’ helps one experience the infinite and eternal Divine.

This book is the culmination of a lot of study and research. Today, it has become difficult for man to understand the essence of the Vedas due to their vastness and varied interpretations.

It is therefore our humble attempt to collate the Vedic hymns chanted in the divine presence of our Lord, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, and provide the purport of the Mantras for easy understanding.Know More About Powerful Vedic Mantras.

It is indeed our great good fortune to be contemporaries of the Divine Master, who has incarnated to teach man the greatest truths of life in the simplest manner; for who else can do this task other than our Divine Lord who is the Veda purusha, from whom all Vedas have emanated! Sri Gandikota Subrahmanya Sastry an eminent Vedic scholar once said, “Bhagawan does not quote the Vedas; whatever He says is verily the Veda”.

Veda Poshana is one of the significant flanks of the divine mission. Bhagawan Baba says that the Vedas are universal. Every human being, irrespective of one’s colour, caste, gender, religion or nationality can take to the chanting of Vedas. It is for this reason that all the students of Sri Sathya Sai educational institutions – from the tiny tots of the primary school to the research scholars of the University – are encouraged to learn Vedic hymns. These Vedic hymns have great spiritual potency. The sonorous chanting of the Vedas evokes spiritual vibrations that form a protective canopy of tranquility, which in turn transforms society and ushers in peace and harmony.
